Ripon Museum Trust is in an exciting phase of expansion having bought the former union workhouse site and achieved NPO status for 2018. We are looking for a new trustee to strengthen our current team of eight to help take the organisation forward. We are a charity and a company limited by guarantee so you would fill the dual role of a trustee of the charity and a director of the company.
All applications are welcome but especially from those with skills in these two clusters: (i) marketing/branding/social media/commercial acumen and social entrepreneurship; (ii) staff development, human resources and performance management.
The Trust would especially welcome applications from: women, early career professionals seeking their first governance position and people with protected characteristics under the Equalities Act 2010, as they are currently underrepresented on the board.
We are committed to ensuring the widest possible field of candidates for this position and will consider any reasonable request to make this possible.
There are four standard board meetings plus two strategic away days each year. Board papers are sent out a week in advance to give time for reading and questions. There will be the opportunity depending on availability and skills to join committees of the board.
Standard board meetings are in the evening; strategy away days are often in the daytime at a weekend. There is some flexibility in setting times and dates if required.
Please read the attached role description and person specification for a Trustee at the Ripon Museum Trust.
Please send a letter expressing your interest and a brief personal statement (along with the attached equal opportunities monitoring form) to the Chair of Trustees, Richard Taylor, at [email protected] by our closing date of 20 November 2017.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited an interview at a date and time to be agreed. Appropriate expenses will be paid.
As a new trustee you will receive a thorough induction prior to your first Board meeting. You will be co-opted onto the board until the next AGM in March 2018, where you will be eligible to stand for election by the meeting.
Reasonable expenses for attending Board meetings (including childcare payments) will be considered.
If you would like to discuss the opportunity before applying then please contact the Chair of Trustees, Richard Taylor, on 07720 751562
