The Trust has recently launched a police heritage project funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund. Our project partner is the Bradford Police Museum.

The Police History project is working to develop the historic police collections at both Ripon and Bradford. Work is underway to improve collections management practices and develop access to the wealth of material reflecting over 150 years of policing and criminal justice. Future plans include a community engagement programme and updated displays at both museums. A small touring exhibition will also be developed early in 2018 which will tour venues in rural Yorkshire as well as sites across the city of Bradford.

Oral History Programme:

Did/do you work for the police in Yorkshire? Do you have memories you'd like to share? As part of this project we are interested in collecting oral histories from ex-police officers who can share their memories, experiences and reflect on what changes you may have witnessed over the years. If you'd like to be involved please contact Project Curator Esther Graham: [email protected]

Do you live in the Masham area?

Focus Group Oral History session is planned for those living in Masham or nearby. It will be held at the Methodist Church schoolroom in Masham on November 23rd starting at 10am. We'd be interested to hear about your thoughts, memories and reflections on rural policing. If you like to sign up to go please contact Project Curator, details below.
