Have you ever wondered what Christmas was like at a Workhouse in 1896?

Join us at the Workhouse Museum on 3rd and 4th December for live interactive promenade theatre performances.

The very talented Fell-Foss Theatre Company and our own community performers will tell the story of real-life historical characters as they explore how paupers and staff celebrated Christmas together.

The performances are a reimagined version of Jubilee at the Workhouse funded by the Two Ridings Community Foundation.

This performance will bring to life new stories of former Workhouse inmates and explore the well documented Christmas Celebrations organised by the Mayor of Ripon.

There will be two performances each day:

After the 3:45 performance you will be invited to join in the Workhouse festivities with a glass of mulled wine or non-alcoholic mulled apple juice (included in the ticket price) accompanied by music and carols. The mulled apple juice is made using apples grown in our Workhouse Garden.

Looking for a Christmas present made locally that supports a good cause? Add a bottle of our hand pressed apple juice made using apples from our Workhouse Garden to your order! Visit our shop for more Christmas gift ideas.
