This online talk is part of the annual Discover Middlesbrough festival, which celebrates Local History Month. The full programme is available here.
North Yorkshire’s smallest city, Ripon, has a unique trio of museums all housed in historic buildings: the Workhouse, Prison & Police and Courthouse Museums. Together they show how law and order was maintained and the poor catered for. These are matters which continue to engage us today so the museums serve to inspire us all towards a fairer society.
Ripon Museum Trust was set up nearly 40 years ago. Richard Taylor is chair of trustees and an active volunteer. He will give an insight into how the museums have taken every opportunity to grow and adapt to meet changing times.
