Do You Belong in a Museum?
Exciting New Opportunity For An External People Committee Member
Could you contribute to the development of this unique voluntary organisation by offering support and advice on our new “People Committee”?
Have you experience of working in the voluntary or heritage sector working with volunteers? We are looking for someone to participate as an external member of the committee who could offer a new and different perspective on how we work. Perhaps you have skills and experience from a more urban environment, the third sector or as a volunteer or manager? Topics such as training and development, recruitment and retention, workforce capacity and inclusion will be discussed at a series of scheduled meetings with the committee of trustees, staff and volunteers.
If you are interested in this new approach and would like to find out more please download further information below and apply by emailing your contact details to [email protected]
Volunteers are the magic ingredient at Ripon Museums, our continued success is only possible because of our wonderful team of volunteers!
Over 100 volunteers are actively involved in a wide range of flexible roles across our 3 sites and gardens. Whatever your interests and experience there is sure to be something which excites and interests you.
You could volunteer with us if you enjoy any of the following…
…talking to people, guiding groups, teaching groups, gardening, making things, cleaning things, selling things, researching, cataloguing, conserving, fund-raising, marketing, painting, repairing, office work, IT projects, being in costume, being in role, being creative, sharing ideas and looking after visitors and other volunteers..
There are those who have lived locally for many years and those who are have recently moved here. Volunteering can be a great way to build your skills and confidence, especially if you’re seeking experience of working with children and the general public or are interested in museums or education. You can enhance your CV and employment prospects also make new friends and meet like-minded people through a volunteer role.
You don’t have to have specialist knowledge to volunteer; all you will need is an enthusiasm for the museums and their collections and a willingness to get stuck in!
Some of our volunteers live locally others have just moved to the area or there are also opportunities to volunteer from home.
All ages, all abilities, all welcome! If you are interested in doing something for us, why not pop in for a chat sometime?
