Fractured Soles: In the footsteps of Workhouse Families opened in September 2024 and is an immersive audio exhibition bringing to life stories of Victorian workhouse families.
As visitors move around the Workhouse museum, they hear from different characters who lived and worked there nearly 150 years ago.
Visitors find out why these people were here, what their experiences were and ultimately what happened to them.
The exhibition is not only immersive but also interactive, bringing the museum to life like never before.

Helena Fox, award winning playwright and theatre artist collaborated with community groups, actors and researchers for this Arts Council funded project. Together they uncovered and brought real stories to life.
Visitors are invited to visit the exhibition Monday to Sunday as the museum is open 10am to 4pm. They are also advised to bring their smart phones in order to listen to the tour.
Additional head phones are available to visitors in order to listen to the stories as they wander around the museum.
The exhibition is open at the Workhouse until April 2025 and is included in admission.
