Our Get To Work! family trail is here
Roll up your sleeves and step back in time with our NEW trail at Ripon Workhouse Museum & Garden which puts you in the shoes of a Victorian workhouse inmate.
There is no time for slackers!!
Discover what life was really like by completing ten difference work tasks around the museum and gardens – from sweeping the yard, helping the cook, writing lines in the schoolroom and helping out in the mortuary.
It’s a unique way for all the family to explore history and imagine the tough jobs that men, women AND children had to do in the Victorian workhouse.
Each time you complete a task, you’ll earn a sticker for your trail sheet. At the end, count them up – have you done enough work to escape?
Free with admission
Available every day – 10am until 4pm
This trail is perfect for curious minds of all ages. Whether you’re local or visiting Ripon for the day, it’s a brilliant way to spend time together and learn about the realities of workhouse life in an interactive and memorable way.
