Since 1982 Ripon Museum Trust has run three museums in the heart of the City of Ripon.
We are currently looking to recruit a Front of House Assistant to help us manage a busy period for the organisation. The contract is zero hours and runs until 23rd November 2024.

The Front of House Assistant will be responsible for delivering first class customer service to every visitor who comes to our museums. Each day is different at Ripon Museums and in this role you will be responsible for ensuring the museums are clean and tidy, fully stocked and ready to operate. The successful applicant will provide excellent customer service, and strive to meet and exceed the Trust’s targets for Gift Aid uptake, survey completion and mailing list uptake.

Key duties:

  • Open up the Museum and admissions desk.
  • Provide first rate customer service to all visitors.
  • Enjoy a customer facing role selling admission tickets and shop items.
  • Undertake lone working at the museum when necessary with offsite support from the Duty Manager.
  • Carry out cleaning when required to ensure the museums are presentable for visitors.
  • Have knowledge of Gift Aid and encourage uptake of Gift Aid donations with visitors.
  • Close up the museum at the end of the day and cash up takings.

Details:

Location: Across all three of our museum sites. The Prison and Police, Workhouse and Courthouse museums.

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Contract: Temporary zero hours contract until 23rd November with an immediate start.

Hours of work: Variable hours that will vary from week to week.
Our normal opening hours are between 10.00 and 16.00 for the Workhouse and Prison & Police Museum and 13:00 and 16:00 for the Courthouse. Shifts will start 15 minutes before opening and end 15 minutes after closing. Applicants must be able to work weekends.

Lunch breaks will be provided as appropriate.
