History comes alive in the atmospheric Prison and Police museum. Constable Thomas Sweeting was Ripon’s first police officer, and it’s safe to say he had quite a colourful career! Join the man himself (played by actor Mark Cronfield) as he shares tales of crime and punishment in Victorian Ripon as well as his dramatic encounters with the city’s criminal underworld

Come and hear tales of crime and punishment in Victorian Ripon as actor Mark Cronfield brings the colourful career of Constable Thomas Sweeting to life. In the atmospheric setting of Ripon Prison and Police Museum, you’ll hear about the real story of Ripon’s first Police Officer and his dramatic encounters with the city’s rogues and criminals.

Performances are suitable for all the family so come along and dive into the world of Victorian Ripon with us.

This performance will take place on Saturday 23rd May at the Prison and Police Museum, with performances at 11:30 am, 1:30pm and 2:30pm. There’s no need to book, just come along and enjoy the performance. This performance is free with a your entry ticket or for any visitors with an existing annual pass.
