Winter Nelis was raised in Belgium by Jean Charles Nelis early 19th Century and introduced to Britain in 1818. It is a late pear variety that produces small fruits of pale green which are almost covered in russet. The flesh is greenish-white, juicy and sweet with the most delicious, rich flavour. Winter Nelis’ fruits last well into the New Year. It isa good Northern variety.
