Ripon Workhouse Museum - Family day out

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Artist’s Brief for 2024.

We are inviting artists and groups of artists to apply for this year’s community art project themedĀ The Historic Lived Experience of Families at the Workhouse

This years open call follows the success of the last artist led project in 2023 with Stephen Lee Hodgkins.

We are very excited about the new project which will explore the stories and experiences of families from the past and how they interacted with the social welfare system, specifically in Ripon Workhouse, from the mid 1800s to the 1920s.

In the past, many different types of families had to live in the Workhouse for various reasons. To find out more, read about the Wintersgill Family one of the Workhouse families.

If you would like to apply, please read the Artists Brief 2024Ā and see the details regarding submitting an expression of interest for the project.

If your submission is selected for the first stage, you will be invited to an interview at Ripon Workhouse Museum which will take place the w/c 6th May.

If you would like to visit the Workhouse Museum beforehand, or need any further information, please email [email protected]Ā or callĀ 01765690799
